LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Throwing a party? Our Garden Guru Chris Olsen has a fun and interesting appetizer for you to serve your friends an family.
Let's say you are having a party and you want a great appetizer. What is usually brought that is so easy and common is spinach dip. What if though you brought something totally different?
Here's what you have to do. First, go to your local grocery store and pick up these ingredients: Frozen or premade garlic toast, some gorgonzola cheese which tastes a little bit like bleu cheese, some fig jam which is nice and sweet and then arugula which you can find in your produce section.
All you do is take your toast and you put about half a teaspoon of jam per piece of toast. You don't want too much because remember it is very sweet. Then what you are going to take your arugula and we need just a little bit of cheese on top of each one. Put that on the bacon pan which I pre-coated with butter so that each piece of toast does not stick to it.
Then I am going to go ahead and pre-set my oven for around 400 degrees, which is pretty warm, so you only need about three or so minutes for this to stay in the oven. Go ahead and put that in the oven.
Our whole point is that let that warm up and let the cheese just start to melt. When it's ready as you watch it you go ahead and let it cool for about five minutes. Then go ahead and take your gorgonzola cheese and go ahead and break it up in small pieces and lay that on top of each piece of toast. This gives it a nice bitter taste.
Before you know it you have a very different and very delicious appetizer. You are watching Today's Home with Chris Olsen.
