CENTRAL, Ark. (KTHV) -- More big-name national retailers are setting up shop here in Central Arkansas.
Word is out that some major names like the Apple Store and J. Crew are coming to Little Rock. Today's THV finds out what's drawing them here.
Eric Luster and his kids take a walk around the Promenade at Chenal.
"It's very nice and serene, maybe exercise a bit, it's a big family place," Luster said.
They walk through a few times a week and Dad's noticing new additions popping up.
"The Anthropologie store, DSW Shoes, Charming Charlie back here, seems one week after the next," Luster said.
Some big name brands setting up shop and more are reportedly on the way. Our news partner at Arkansas Business says tenancy documents reveal Apple and J. Crew should open later this year.
"I wear a lot of J. Crew merchandise and who doesn't have an Apple devices these days. This area would benefit from it a whole lot," Luster said.
"We're a smaller market and you can put one store here and serve a large market so I'm not surprised at all," Jane Wayland said.
Wayland is the chairwoman of UALR's Marketing and Advertising Department in the College of Business.
"First of all, we know that Arkansas is weathering the storm fairly well, so there is a market for their business here," Wayland said.
She also says company expansion often winds its way to secondary markets like Little Rock, already tapped online.
"People buy off the web from J. Crew for example, so they know who's coming," Wayland said.
She says corporate buyouts help too.
"There was a private equity fund that bought JCREW and that installed a lot of cash into J. Crew and so that gives them the opportunity to move," Wayland said.
Wayland says growth and good rental leases now are some final factors luring the big names here for families like the Luster's strolling the shops.
Today's THV also confirmed a Chipotle restaurant is coming to the Pleasent Ridge Town Center in West Little Rock this summer.
