LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Before, the American dream meant getting that dream job, finding a husband or wife, buying a home that you'd stay in for 30-plus years, having 2-point-5 kids and retiring at the age of 65. Now, some say that's not possible because, Americans don't make enough money to afford it.
New research suggests Americans enjoy less economic mobility than people in Canada and much of Western Europe. The research says 42 percent of American men who are raised in the bottom fifth of incomes, stay there as adults, much higher than men in Denmark and Britain.
They blame it on poverty in which poor kids get off to a rough start. They also point to the cost of a college degree; adding it's very expensive.
Today's C-block topic is a philosophical one, "Is the American dream still a possibility?" If so, are you living it? Do you think the American dream has changed and if so, how?
