UNDATED (CNN) -- Recent college grads scored higher salaries in 2011 than their classmates the year before. Here's how much they're making and what majors earn the most.
The class of 2011 was still in class during the Great Recession, but the economy has recovered enough since then to offer some pretty nice salaries.
Newly-minted college graduates who scored a job last year are making an average yearly salary of $41,700. That's up more than twp percent from 2010 and higher than the average income for all U.S. households.
So which majors are making the big bucks? A non-profit association tracking the numbers says engineering majors top the list, earning almost $62,000 on average.
Computer science majors aren't far behind, raking in more than $60,000. Those grads also saw the largest pay bump among all majors, up more than four percent from 2010.
At the bottom of the lsit, those working in education will make a lower but still respectable $37,000 on average. And humanities majors can expect to see the lowest salaries. That includes fields like criminal justice, English and psychology.
Regardless of salary, there is some encouraging news for all college grads, especially after a couple of years in the workforce.
The most recent data shows that for people 25 and older with a college degree or higher, the unemployment rate is just 4.1 percent. Compare that to 8.5 percent among all Americans.
