LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Next week is National School Choice Week and coming up in the C-Block today, we want your thoughts on an interesting article we found in Time Magazine challenging the idea.
The author, Andrew Rotherham, says the debate shouldn't just be about whether parents can pick what schools their kids go to, but should also be able to pick their kid's teachers!
His argument is certain teachers may fit better with the way different students learn.
He says the emphasis has been taken off the importance of the quality of teachers in the classroom and allowing parents to pick will help hold teachers accountable too. However, most schools don't let parents have a say.
So today in the C Block we want your thoughts. Should parents be allowed to pick their child's teachers? Should schools have to cater to every parent's request? Do you think it would make a difference in a child's performance? Or should the child learn to adapt?
