UNDATED (CNN) -- Do you love to tweet, post and pin? How about getting paid to do it? A new report looks at the best cities to snag a social media job, and the salaries companies will pay for your social savvy.
The explosion of social media has meant a shift for companies, schools, even the government incorporating Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and the like into what they do every day. That's also meant a new career path, social media professionals.
The question: How do I get paid to tweet? Ken Clark, Onward Search Chief Operating Officer says, "Some employers are placing a very large significant emphasis on social media and they just value the profession."
Onward Search, which specializes in finding digital careers, looked at the cities with the highest volume of social media jobs.
Number one on their list: New York. The next three in are in California in San Jose, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Rounding out the top five is Boston.
Some postings will have social media in their title, but if they don't, other key words include:
-- Digital marketing project manager
-- Online marketing manager
-- Brand manager
-- Or PPC specialist
Of course you'll want to make sure that your skills outside of social media are a good fit for an employer too. Clark says, "It is inaccurate to have the assumption that if you've got a lot of Facebook friends, that you're going to get paid a lot of money just for doing that."
The Onward Search Survey found salaries for the most experienced professionals in the top markets, as high as $117,000 annually.
