LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The state says Arkansas' unemployment rate remained unchanged last month, staying at 7.6 percent.
The Department of Workforce Services says February's unemployment rate is four-tenths of a percentage point lower than it was in February 2011. Spokeswoman Kimberly Friedman says 21,000 more people were employed in February 2012 than in February 2011.
The national rate was 8.3 percent in February.
In Arkansas, the government sector saw the highest increase last month, adding 6,000 jobs as public university employees return to work after the holiday break. Professional and business services added 1,400 jobs - many of them in bookkeeping and accounting hired for the busy tax season.
Trade, transportation and utilities decreased by 2,700 jobs, while retail jobs were down by 2,600.
