LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 9, 2012) - One organization has made it their priority to look after the mental health of those in our community.
Professional Counseling Associates of Central Arkansas (PCA)opened their doors in 1974, as a non-profit organization, and has been growing and serving more clients each year with seven different locations in NLR, Sherwood, Cabot, Jacksonville, Hazen, Lonoke, and Southwest Little Rock.
"We see a lot of major depression in our organization," says Jannie Cotton with PCA. "We serve close to 5,000 people each year and with the economy, with problems with their children, with divorce, after having babies, everything has really become a forefront of people seeking services."
PCA's Family Resource Center, located at the North Little Rock Springhill clinic, is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am - 2pm and provides free and confidential assistance in areas such as brief consultations, stress, relationships, family problems, financial difficulties and more.
"We have babies who come from situations from homes where there may be drug and alcohol abuse, babies who just haven't had a good beginning and they need some support system so we serve them all the way from school age to the elderly."
PCA is hosting their 2nd annual 'Get Psyched for PCA' gala fundraiser on Thursday, May 3rd from 6-8:30 p.m. at the PCA office (3601 Richards Rd) in North Little Rock.
The event will feature THV's own Chris Olsen. Chris' presentation will include a demonstration on Container Gardening and will be followed with a book signing of his new book, Five Seasons with Chris Olsen.
"What I tie it into is nurturing the entire mind, body and spirit," says Cotton. "Chris nurtures plants and we all need someone to help us nurture our minds."
Tickets are $75 per person. To purchase call Jannie Cotton at 501-221-1843.
