LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Administrators with the PCSSD hand delivered non-renewal contracts to 1,300 teachers and certified staff Monday.
Superintendent Dr. Jerry Guess also held a meeting with all district principals to discuss changes to teachers and principals contracts after the State Education Department mandated PCSSD withdraw recognition of its two unions PACT and PASS.
"I prefer both sides got along and not have legal fees that are mounting as you mentioned. But my responsibility is to get the best advice I can get, and I'm committed to do, to chart a course based on sound advice and course best for fiscal health of the district," says Dr. Guess.
We looked into the district's lawyer expenses and salaries since July.
The district has spent $459,000 in less than a year.
Union leaders would not comment before their emergency meeting at 5 p.m.
